Medieval Archaeological Forum (MAF) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the research in historical archaeology, with a special focus on Denmark in the Medieval Period (1050-1536), although we also publish works on the surrounding periods, i.e. the Viking Age (793-1050) and Early Modern Period (1500-1800).

In MAF, we have three main types of publications:

  • Theses; where we publish some of the best student-written MA theses, which have been handed in at the Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies at Aarhus University.

  • Anno Domini; our annual journal, which contains articles written by students and recent graduates. It can be purchased directly, but is given for free to all paying members.

  • Nyhedsbrevet; our bi-annual newsletter, which contains information on the most recent finds of medieval contexts, written by the museums themselves, in addition to news from the organisation, upcoming seminars and conferences around Denmark, and recent publications on the topic.

The governing board of the organisation consists of active students, recent graduates, museum inspectors, and department members. This wide range of expertise allows us to secure the high academic level that we pride ourselves on.

All of our publications are for sale on this web-page, and can be found under the tab Udgivelser. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us via: bestilling@middelalderforum.dk.

Membership can be purchased under the tab Medlemsskab or via email to: medlem@middeladerforum.dk.

We look forward to hearing from you!
